Music of the Night is a new theme for 2008 that plays on classic images of roses, music and the Phantom! This prom theme looks superb and it’s easy to pull off with these tips!
For the complete look, go with the Music of the Night Prom Theme Kit which includes a 10’ x 12’ arch with a mysterious phantom mask, a pair of 9’4” tall columns, an organ standee and a set of battery-operated candles to top off the columns. Take the kit to the next level by adding bronze candelabras and taper candles. You can place the candles around the room on tables or use them to accent the photo area. Just remember to be careful with open flames!
Create a radiant backdrop for your decorations using burgundy or cranberry jeweltone gossamer (available in flame-retardant material) and metallic gold gossamer. Swag the gossamer off the side of the arch and hang it from the ceiling in drapes or columns to create a full backdrop that will really make your decorations stand out and look polished. Check out our gossamer tips for more ideas.
Great accents for this theme include roses, masks, and music notes, so get creative. Once you’ve got the focal points set the fine details should just fall into place. Here are some of our recommendations!
Music
Add music notes to your tables, the dance floor or the backdrop using die-cut music notes, music note centerpieces and music note balloons. Attach die-cut music notes to curling ribbon and hang them from the ceiling or tie them to the backs of chairs or use them as napkin rings. Music note balloons can be filled with helium and tied in bunches (odd numbers look best) or inflated with cool air and scattered around the floor. The crisp black and white color scheme of music note accents makes for a subtle, sophisticated touch to your Music of the Night themed prom.
Roses
Add a splash of deep red with rose themed accents. The roses will coordinate with your backdrop and add a classic touch of beauty. The Standing Roses Centerpiece features bouquets of silk roses tied together in free-standing bunches, perfect for adding a finishing touch to your table décor. Place them on top of simple black and white tablecovers and scatter silk or real rose petals around the surface and you have a beautiful table! Just add silver tableware. The silk rose petals are also great for scattering the dance floor with. The array of petals will add a burst of color and a romantic touch.
Use custom rose banners to welcome students to the prom or designate certain areas such as photos or coat check. The banners are printed on heavy-duty, weather-resistant vinyl and are available with or without metal grommets and in seven different sizes. You can add your own wording too!
Don’t forget balloons. The black and white glitter rose balloons tie into the rose theme without being overwhelmingly red, plus there’s rose mylar balloons for accenting balloon bunches.
Masks
Masks add a touch of mystery to the whole event. Use a metallic mask border to accent your table edges or to outline the dance floor or walk way. Hang harlequin mask cutouts in gold and silver from the ceiling or add them to place settings for a simple, clean accent. Bundle gold harlequin masks with handles together and stick them into a Styrofoam ball cut in half. Cover the ball in a loose bundle of gold gossamer and add a small silk rosebud or some red curling ribbon and you have a beautiful and easy-to-make centerpiece!
Photo Setting
Great prom photos make for lasting memories and these photo settings will help make your photos beautiful! If you’re sticking with the music element of the Music of the Night theme, accent a wire arch or pair of wire columns with twinkle lights and diamond patterned metallic gossamer. The black and white color of the gossamer ties to the theme and makes a great backdrop for adding Milky Way garland and music note cut-outs. If you’re going with the rose element, add some rose garland or silk rosebuds to the Secret Garden Photo Setting, which already features ivy and twinkle lights. Be sure to scatter the floor around it with silk rose petals too. For a mask focus, try a Lighted Masquerade Mask. It stands 30” high and makes a great photo prop.
Memory Booklet
The memory booklet is a prom tradition that started right here at Stumps Prom. There are memory booklets to match each element of the Music of the Night theme. For the music component the Dancing Couple Booklet featuring a gold or silver couple waltzing on the black cover is a lovely choice. If you’re going with the roses, try the Botanical Beauty Booklet or Enchanted Rose Booklet. For the mask theme, use the Magic of Mardi Gras Booklet with a metallic silver mask on a matte black booklet. It looks sophisticated enough for a night at the opera! Check out our memory booklet tips for ideas on how to layout and fill your booklets!
Favors
Favors are a favorite part of prom tradition. Try some of these favors to say thank you to your guests! The Music Notes Magnetic Frame is perfect for keeping a commemorative photo in. For a music-inspired evening a music download card, custom iPod case imprinted with your prom details, or a custom vinyl CD case are all great choices.
For rose inspired favors keep it simple and pass out real or silk roses. For a longer-lasting favor try a rose photo box, rose photo key tag, Enchanted Rose Frame or a Kiss from a Rose key tag, all of which can be customized with a logo and your prom details or slogan! If you’re going with a Music of the Night masquerade, use the custom photo key chain with mask charm, mask cell phone charm, or silver mask key tag.
